Our Banquet team plays a critical role in creating seamless, elevated experiences for weddings, corporate gatherings, and special celebrations.

Position Summary

The On-Call Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing banquet events from set-up through execution and breakdown. This role provides on-site leadership, ensuring service excellence, operational efficiency, and adherence to South Seas standards.

The Banquet Captain serves as the primary point of contact during assigned events, directing Banquet Servers and coordinating closely with Culinary, Catering, and other departments to ensure flawless delivery.

Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour plus service charges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead banquet team members during assigned events, ensuring smooth execution and service excellence.
  • Serve as the on-site liaison between Catering, Culinary, and operational teams.
  • Conduct pre-event staff briefings to review event details, timelines, and service expectations.
  • Oversee event set-up, ensuring room diagrams, décor, and table settings meet specifications.
  • Maintain quality control of food and beverage presentation and timing.
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues professionally and promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with company grooming, safety, and service standards.
  • Maintain required certifications, including Alcohol Awareness and ServSafe (as required).
  • Monitor team performance and provide direction to maintain efficiency and professionalism.
  • Complete post-event breakdown and ensure proper reset and storage procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of banquet service experience in a hotel, resort, or upscale event environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet operations and service standards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in high-volume, fast-paced environments.
  • Professional demeanor and polished guest interaction skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including warm weather conditions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining composure under pressure.
